Download MP3@320: Rapidshare

Rapidshare tells me how many times a file has been downloaded and it allows me to sort by that number so I’ve been looking at all the shows that have never been downloaded and trying to figure out why. Sometimes its simply because no one wants that particular show because it is an audience source of a show that also has a soundboard recording, or maybe its a sample MP3 and no one needs a sample. Sometimes it seems to be because I’ve accidentally uploaded the same file twice and have already posted the other link (this happens way too much actually as I’m trying to sort through all the reupload requests.) Other times I have to dig around a bit to figure out why exactly no one has downloaded it.

In the case of this show it appears to be that I never posted it. I believe this is a show that someone over on Reddit asked for and I uploaded it for them, but either didn’t give them the link or for whatever reason they didn’t download it. That should also be why the FLAC wasn’t posted as well. Whatever the reason, here it is now. I do have the FLAC files and I will eventually post them, but if you want them sooner than later just leave a comment.

  1. Thanks Mat. I myself have never really gotten on the Grateful Dead bus, if you will, so I tend to pass on these, but I’m sure others like them a lot.

One thought regarding Rapidshare. I sometimes have a hard time getting the larger files to download using the “free mode” I use. I do have an easier time with Mediafire and DepositFiles. But that’s just me. I know you said Mediafire deleted all your files so I can see why you wouldn’t want to use them. šŸ™‚

Anyway, that’s why sometimes I am not able to D/L the Rapidshare files, b/c it will give out on me (in free mode) before completion. Just an FYI. (Generally, Rapidshare does work for me, if I stay at the computer and nudge it along and not let it go into SLEEP mode.)

  2. I loved Mediafire. They were fast and I never had any complaints and they were one of the first sites that allowed multiple uploads at once. But yeah, they killed all my files and from what I read they are still running scared after the whole Megaupload thing. So as much as I’d love to go back I’m afraid they’d do it again. And seeing as I’m still reuploading old files from the last take down, I don’t want that to happen again ever.

I started using Rapidshare because right after the whole Megaupload deal they came out and said everybodys files were safe that they wouldn’t be deleting unless they got a specific take down request and word from my fellow uploaders was they were pretty straight shooters.

As an uploader they work great, sorry if they are slow for downloaders. Yesterday I downloaded some shows from another blog (which is unusual as I almost always just do torrents) and it was painstakingly slow to download even relatively small files. So I understand how annoying this process is.

I’ve looked at other sites, but one of the reasons I stay with Rapidshare is that they don’t delete files even if they are rarely downloaded. Every other sites I’ve found will delete if something hasn’t been downloaded in 30-90 days, but Rapidshare doesn’t do that, at least not with a pro account (which I get free as long as folks are downloading from me.)

If anyone knows of a fast site that doesn’t delete and gives you unlimited storage please let me know.

Would breaking the big flac files into 200 mb chunks work better?

  3. Thanks Mat. Let me always say I’m thankful for anything you are able to do – definitely not picky! For the larger files, if you could break them into 200-MB chunks, that would help me at least. But I’m happy to go with what is best for all.

    Thanks for all the music!
