Deadlist Comments:
Ronnie Hawkins appears on Good Morning Little Schoolgirl and
Lovelight. Someone adds flute on Lovelight. Some speculate
that it’s Charles Lloyd, but this seems unlikely.

  1. Wayne “The Harp” Ceballos, who was on the gig with his band Aum and had sat in with the GD at the Fillmore West a few days earlier is the additional vocalist.
I believe the flute player was Gary Larkey from Sanpaku. Sanpaku was also on the bill, and Larkey jammed with the Dead on stage a number of times (including the very next week in Seattle).
A show that is not as well known due to the intensity of 06/14. Pig IMHO is the leader here. This recording captures his organ playing capability, not the best H2H but still Pig at the helm. Schoolgirl is gooey, Pig shares the vocals/harp, grate recording too. Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the Grateful Dead share. I am trying to get in to the Dead but they just sound a bit too country. I will give this a shot and see if it changes my perception.

    Thanks again

  4. I hope you like it Rhod. This is definitely not country-fried Dead that you’ve heard in later years. Early dead is primal, big blues and lots of psychedelic weirdness.
